The Vatican

Tour Rome in 1 Day

After your lunch, it should be around 2:30, time enough to Take Linea A (red line) any stop in the direction of BATTISTINI. Get off at stop OTTAVIANO.
Take the street called Via Ottaviano and walk to the end of it until you reach Piazza Risorgimento - there is a bus depot.
Across the piazza in front of you, you will see the high brown walls of the Vatican. Follow the wall and more than likely the line of people and you will arrive at the entrance of the Vatican museums.
hop back onto the Metro and head to the Vatican. I have saved the Vatican as the last or second last site, depending on how quickly you are able to complete the rooms within the museum. Please be aware that the ticket booth closes at 4pm but the museum closes at 6pm. The only way to avoid the lines is to be a part of a private tour for which it is possible to find information online. However, it is worth the wait. The works of all the great masters of the Renaissance are on display and welcome and invite each visitor to partake in a world of creative genius, where it becomes difficult to tell where the brush stroke has ended and human flesh begins. The Sistine Chapel is the must see place, if it is your first visit to the Vatican museums. There is no direct route there, but you must pass through many rooms each more opulent than the next before arriving there. I will not spoil your moment of awe and wonder on seeing this masterpiece in 360 degrees, but enough to remind you, that it has been created as a place of worship and a respectful demeanor and lowered voices are expected. You can choose to finish your day here, grabbing an apperitivo while you fuss over the photos you have taken or finally…
