Cocktail Bars in Rome, Italy
![]()
Even though La Baguette is a restaurant, we've put it into our cocktail bar section because its an excellent place to nip in for a mid afternoon drink or before dinner spot. We literally stumbled into the door of this modern, contemporary caffè, one wet spring evening in the Eternal City. We were actually giving a close friend an informal tour of the city, when we needed a respite from the sloshy streets, endless sea of umbrellas and crazy Roman drivers.
Perfectly located near to the Spanish Steps, we were pleasantly surprised by the high roofs, light colored floors and tables and ample space. Though the later may seem insignificant to some, after rubbing and touching strangers of probably every nationality on earth, a little elbow room does a lot of good. The large glass windows at the front of the caffè allow you to comfortably watch the city go by from the comfort of your chair.
The menu is very comprehensive offering everything from your favorite brews, to fancy English teas and our favorite in winter, rich creamy hot chocolate. There are also different types of sandwiches, muffins and other treats for those who may want a light snack. We loved the fact that the beer we ordered came with chips, olives and nuts at no extra cost and surprisingly the prices were below average for a location in the center.
The English couple next to us, seemed content enough to pull out their map and chart their route through the city while reminiscing on what they had seen so far.
