Events in Rome, Italy

As is the tradition in many countries around the world, 1st May is the celebration of the Labour Union Movement and Italy is no exception.
Every 1st May in Rome, there is a large free concert in Piazza San Giovanni featuring top Italian artistes. This year will feature amongst the numerous artistes Carmen Consoli and Irene Grandi.

While most tourists may not be familiar with the stars of the Italian music scene, the concert is a wonderful opportunity to partake in one of the biggest crowd gatherings in Rome. The metro stop, San Giovanni is always closed during this time so it is advisable to get off at the stop after: Re di Roma, or the stop before: Manzoni.
