Restaurants in Rome, Italy
Ai Piani, an elegant restaurant found in the suburb of Parioli, has been built to include a majestic tree in its design. The tree actually grows right through the restaurant, the only one in Rome that can boast such a thing.
The real highlight of this restaurant is the food. The owner of the restaurant has brought all his knowledge and expertise from the island of Sardinia, in order to produce some of the best fish dishes in Rome and dare I say Italy. The secret lies in the meticulous attention paid to all stages of the product.
Oysters, clams, mussels and other crustaceans, along with fish of variable sizes and species are hand picked every day by the chef and owner. The oysters deserve special mention for their freshness and rich flavor, while the appetizer sampling salmon, clams, mussels and 5 other types of fish is a definite must.
First courses are pastas, lovingly handmade and perfectly al dente. The 'spaghetti alle vongole' is delectable, with the tiny flavor packed crustaceans adding large amounts of taste to this classic dish. Main courses delve into the world of Mediterranean fish, with soft succulent pieces deboned right before your eyes.
Desserts take you back to the island of Sardinia, with the use of Italian seasonal fruit or exotic tropical ones like passion fruit and mango. The wine list is adapted to the wide array of fish dishes available and the expertly trained waiters and maître d' ensure that your experience is memorable. Prices are exclusive and definitely worth it. Ai Piani is a wonderful choice for a romantic dinner or other celebratory occasions.
Reservations are required and the restaurant remains closed on Mondays.
