Coffee Shops in Rome, Italy
Even though Italy does not grow its own beans, it is a land of hardened coffee drinkers. The daily rhythm of life in Rome is centered around this potent little brew, and the absence of large franchises like Starbucks is notable. Caffe' Tazza D'Oro is the quintessential Roman bar. Located two steps from the Pantheon this bar hand roasts its premiere coffee beans from around the world, creating superior and exotic blends which you would be hardpressed to find elsewhere.
Its prime location means that it is almost always crowded and the scent of freshly brewed espresso transports you to the exotic shores of Brazil, Guatemala and Jamaica. There is no real seating which we didn't mind at all because space at the counter clears quickly as people down their espresso's in a minute or less. We love the fact that you can buy their products which arent just limited to coffee beans but include sweets, aromatic teas and coffee liquers which make much appreciated gifts for friends and family.
The cost of a cup of espresso or coffee here may be a bit higher than in other places but its worth it because of the authenticity and variety of flavors found here. Of course there is cappuccino, caffe americano, caffe lungo, caffe macchiato, latte macchiato, ristretto, corretto and the list goes on. Try a new one each day and spicen up your mornings in the Eternal City.
