Gelato in Rome, Italy
Another contender for the title of 'best gelato in Rome' is the lesser known Quintozzi. We only discovered this place a little over a year ago and some hot summer afternoons have found a few of our staff members there. Its a bit off the well worn tourist path but here at AdoreRome we are all about hidden gems.
Climbing down a few steps, finds you in the middle of this small but bustling gelateria and bar. The gelato is creamy and soft but doesn't melt immediately, a sign of premiere quality. The ingredients in each flavor can be tasted and identified, and even the fruit flavors have pieces of the actual fruit inside. One of our favorite combinations is coconut with 'straciatella' - vanilla with chunks of rich chocolate. The prices are lower than those found in the center and you can order your gelato in either a cup or cone.
There is no seating inside, but outside there are caffè tables under a cool tent allowing you to enjoy your treat. The majority of people at this gelateria will be Italians, another sign of quality and many children are brought here for an afternoon treat.
