Siciliainbocca

Restaurants in Rome, Italy

Siciliainbocca

Siciliainbocca Sicilia-in-bocca literally means Sicily in your mouth,  an allusion to the characteristic and rich flavours of the largest island of Italy. The first restaurant opened in 1999  and quickly became such a huge success, that two others soon followed. The hues and textures of the Mediterranean are captured on the walls and in the furnishings. Locals and tourists alike remain surprised by the authentic and pure flavours which characterize each dish.

Sweet sun-dried tomatoes, fresh zesty lemons and hints of thyme, sweet marjoram and basil are just some of the ingredients which take your tastebuds on a culinary escape to the traditional and colourful towns of the island.  Sicilian cuisine is described by many Italians as robust and well-seasoned, but remains one of the hardest cuisines to duplicate due to the uniqueness and freshness of ingredients native to the island.

Our top picks remain:
La Caponata which is a vegetable medley of eggplant, celery, olives, capers and tomatoes seasoned to perfection. For us it is a summation of the flavours of Sicilian cooking.
Calamaretti ripieni which are skewers of delicate squid stuffed with breaded anchioves and capers, slowly grilled over an open flame. The squid remains slightly crispy but still tender and the slight tartness of the capers plays off beautifully against the texture of the breadcrumbs.
Insalata di arance is a salad made of oranges, black olives and fennel which can be used to calm the palate after a sensory overload or just eaten by itself for those who are not quite hungry.
Of course there are so many other dishes including exquisite cous-cous and tender meats to choose from. We sincerely hope you will try and tell us what you think. We definitely recommend reserving in advance as all three locations fill up very quickly especially on weekends.
