Restaurants in Rome, Italy
L'Anatra Grassa which means The Fat Duck, is a popular restaurant in one of Rome's suburbs, located about 10 minutes from Termini Station. Here you won't find crowds of tourists, snippy waitresses or fast food. Instead what you will find are easy-going Romans, a relaxing atmosphere and delicious Italian dishes.
We popped in one day for lunch and we were quickly seated at one of the sidewalk tables on the outside of the restaurant. Because of its location on a less traversed street, we didn't find ourselves choking on smog, being hassled by rose vendors or serenaded by accordion players.
The menu has a variety of options including fresh homemade pastas with fish or meats, refreshing summer salads some with creamy mozzarella cheese and light main courses. We chose gnocchi with clams and tagliolini with mussels which were both exquisitely prepared and presented. The clams were well seasoned with just a hint of parsley while the gnocchi, were light, chewy and moist.
Prices were moderate, with the fish dishes of course being the more expensive ones. Pasta dishes run between €8 to €13 while salads were €12 and up. Service was quick and our waitress was quite warm and we are determined to return here for an aperitivo before the summer is up.
