Tour Rome in 1 Week
This villa constructed in the second century by then Emperor of Rome Hadrian started off as a palatial retreat and eventually became a place from which he governed the empire. This UNESCO World Heritage site is possibly one of the best preserved examples of architecture for this period in the world. The vastness of the complex becomes apparent from the moment you walk through the winding entrance and arrive at the imposing wall of the Pecile. This wall is testament to the advanced knowledge of Roman builders as it stands nearly 190 metres wide. The rest of the complex features most notably. the well preserved remains of the Imperial Palace, thermal baths, the Maritime Theatre which is an island built within the complex. If we could we would give Villa Adriana two stamps of approval because of its historical significance, its constant commitment to remain a high quality tourism product and the ease of navigating such a large site. We still remain a bit disappointed in the efficiency of public transportation to arrive to the site therefore we recommend going if you have more than five days in Rome.
